Koh Kho Khao is a charming family friendly island with beautiful nature and stunning sunsets. The island is a very idyllic and quiet place, far a way from mass tourism and traffic. It has an interesting bird life and between November and February, you can also watch sea turtles ashore to lay their eggs more secluded beaches.
The west coast of the island has an 18 km long virgin white sandy beach.
Koh Kho Khao is located in the south-west of Thailand, 90 kim north of Phuket. The nearest tourist area is 25 km south of the island. However, it only takes about 5 minutes by ferry to retrieve the island from the mainland.
Near the pier there are a variety of restaurants, bars, super markets and shopping facilities. For more restaurants, shopping, and and night life you van go to Khao Lak, which also can be a nice change from the quiet life on the island. Every wednesday and saturday there is also a market in Khao Lak. Takuapa is also well worth a visit if you want to experience a genuine Thai city. Takuapa is about 10 km from the port of Nam Khem, where the ferry docks.

You will find some of the best areas in the world in these parts. Go on a trip to Similian and/or Surin Islands which are considered among the world’s 10 best dive and snorkel sites where you can express up in the crystal clear waters and discover the fish in a rainbow of colors in perfect harmony with the beautiful coral reefs, this is something that can really be recommended. The island is also a good starting point for other activities such as golf, riding on the elephant in the rainforest, Khao Sok National Park is considered one of Thailand’s finest, canoeing or explore the otherwise spectacular nature etc..
On Koh Kho Khao the monsoon winds usually turns in the middle of October. From then on, the clouds are blowing from the shore and to the ocean.This means that the weather gradually becomes drier (More sun and less rain) until the end of November. From December on it is almost completely dry until partway through April, normally much sun and little rain.It is relatively cool at Christmas and in January, night temperature may come down to 20º C. From late January until April, it gradually becomes warmer. When it’s getting hot it might be nice to stay near the beach where it almost always comes a cool breeze in from the sea. Towards the end of April, the monsoon wind turns again and it will be more rainy and windy.
